Howdy! My name is John McKenan Bundy, but you can call me McKenan.

About Me

John McKenan Bundy (he/him) is a writer, educator, scholar, and editor from Texas currently living and working in the Washington DC area.

As a writer, McKenan’s work focuses on the ways religion and politics interact with the queer/gay experience. His short stories range from literary to speculative. He is working on his first novel, a semi-autofictional book about queer characters living in West Texas.

As an educator and academic, McKenan has received an MA in English from Texas Tech University and is currently an MFA candidate in Fiction at George Mason University. He has over five years of teaching experience at the college level, having taught composition, literature, and creative writing courses. He was the 2024 Writing Consultant of the Year at the GMU Writing Center. Teaching is one of McKenan’s passions, particularly teaching English to diverse, multilingual writers and first-gen college students.
